Transcription: I am having serious trouble with the crew, despite the signs of land we have seen. All day and night they complain that they will never return home. They say it is insanity and suicide on their part to risk their lives to follow the madness of a foreigner. I am told by a few trusted men that if I persist in sailing onward, the crew will throw me into the sea one night and say that I fell overboard. I am Italian by birth and not Spanish little or no account will be asked of the matter But with God's help I shall persevere
